June 29, 2023 - CMS Masterclass at Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium

On June 29, 2023, PhD students Ralf Schmieder and Cedric Verstege from ETP visited the Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium in Leinfelden to present a CMS Masterclass.
The high school students, who had chosen physics as their advanced course, received an introduction to particle physics and learned about the CMS detector. They were then able to view event displays from a real CMS data set and search for the W, Z, and Higgs bosons.
The Masterclass sparked the students' interest and gave them a glimpse into the fascinating world of particle physics. They will visit CERN this summer to explore the CMS experiment, among other things.
