Detector construction under one roof - ETP clean room inaugurated
June 17, 2024
On June 17, 2024, Prof. Oliver Kraft, Vice President Research and Acting President of KIT, inaugurated the clean room of the Institute of Experimental Particle Physics and the Institute for Astroparticle Physics in a ceremony. The clean room was expanded to more than 100 m2 between 2019 and 2021 with funds from the KIT President's Strategy Fund. It was then set up for the series production of silicon detectors for the CMS experiment at CERN, which will begin in summer 2024. Dr. Stefan Maier, who coordinated the installation of the clean room: "Clean rooms are central infrastructure for our research. The expansion of our clean room enables us to carry out all steps of series production under one roof."
