GridKa
Central german computing centre for nuclear and paritcle physics within the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid
The enourmous amounts of data produced in modern particle and nuclear physics experiments require special, world-wide distributed computing resources for data reconstruction, simulation and data analysis. Within the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) the Steinbuch Centre for Computing at KIT operates the central-European Tier-1 centre GridKa, which is the largest centre of its kind and supports all four LHC experiments and some others.
Contribution of the ETP
The groups at ETP take responsibility for experiment specific tasks and services for the experiments CMS, CDF and Belle II.
SCC also operates a tier-3 centre providing computing and storage resources for the end-phase of data analysis by physicists in Germany.
